Buh-Bye 20's

10 years ago today, it was Thursday June 3, 1999. I had finished my sophomore year of college a few weeks before. I was living in Suncook, NH with Cliff and planning on getting an apartment in Keene, NH when I returned to school that August. I remember being happy that my 20th birthday was going to fall on a Friday. I paused for a moment that afternoon thinking “This is the last day I’ll be a “teenager” I’ll be 20 tomorrow. Wonder what my 20’s will be like?”

Well they were a heck of a ride; full of ups and downs, twists and turns; but with a very happy ending.

I finished college with two degrees and entered the “real world”. I have had 3 jobs in 3 totally different industries (Environmental, Software and now Banking). I have enjoyed all of them. I’d love to get back to my environmental research, but I can see myself staying here at the bank for a while too.

I had my heart broken; but then a tall handsome guitar player entered my life. He made my heart whole again. We have been together for 6 years now I and I just keep falling in love with him over and over again. We got married May 19th, 2007. By far that was one of the best days of my life.

I lost one good friend to a motorcycle accident, and lost touch with some others. I entered the second decade of friendship with a couple of you. I have gained so many incredible new friends over the past 10 years. I am truly lucky and blessed to have each of you in my life.

And of course my family has been there through it all. I watched my little sister get married to a wonderful man. My grandfather passed on and we miss him terribly. Recently with the birth of my cousins children I have seen the next generation of our family arrive. Reminding me that with every end there has to be a new beginning.

So here I am today June 3, 2009 thinking “This is the last day I’ll be a “twentysomething” I’ll be 30 tomorrow. Wonder what my 30’s will be like?”
